October 25th, 2011 · 3 Comments

We began our final day in Rome in Vatican City. Our trusty tour guide, Rick Steves, gave perfect advice: to truly appreciate the experience, check your current beliefs at the door and enjoy it from the perspective of a catholic.
I didn’t enjoy pushing my way through the Vatican museum because it’s a one-way path crammed [...]

Thursday morning, we woke up early and walked down to the Colosseum. Husband tried to tell me about Rome and how there is history every where you look, but to see it on every other corner with my own eyes was spectacular. Thanks to Rick Steves’ audio tour we learned some new, fascinating things about [...]

The next morning, we had breakfast in our room. We ordered hot chocolate and it was literally melted chocolate. It came in the cutest, little, silver tea pots.

I especially loved the pad thai. The range of ingredients and spices was incredible. We’re hoping to continue these cooking [...]

This past week, I got to host book club. We discussed The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society; such a great, CLEAN read. It also gave me the excuse to make some yummy fall dishes that I’ve been wanting to try…

Pumpkin Patch

October 13th, 2011 · 3 Comments

We ventured up to our favorite pumpkin patch. Little Man gets the whole Halloween thing this year. He especially loves “punkins.” He was completely ecstatic when he jumped out of the car and ran through the field shouting and pointing “PUNKINS!” He also attempted picking up several pumpkins, in which he grunted and said “ug, [...]

Earlier this week, my brother and his two boys dropped in to stay the night on their way to a hunting trip in Wyoming. It was a short visit but fun to have them in our home for the first time.

The boys practicing their bow-and-arrow form:

Then, over the weekend, Husband’s oldest brother Dan came in [...]
