Canning

July 28th, 2010 by Elizabeth · 2 Comments

There’s a first for everything and today was mine with canning. I had a traumatizing experience when my mother canned a batch of pickles that went oh so wrong. Today, I had to rewrite my memory of canned pickles. I made a hot, garlic, dill pickle but won’t know how they really turned out for a week.

I do have to say, once I purchased all of the canning supplies, it really was easy, gratifying and fun to do. I think I could really get the hang of this. I have a canning date on Saturday with Laura to make “Blue-Ribbon Prize Winning Corn Relish.”

Here’s my morning o’ canning:

Wowsers! Those look great and I’m not even the biggest fan of pickles! Can’t wait to see these canning skills in action… :)
