Being on a mini-vacay, Husband and I decided to call it truths this year in the joke category. Shocking, I know. But that didn’t stop Aspen’s local paper pulling a fast one on us.

We only read the headline when both of us looked at each other and said “You’ve got to be kidding me.”

See, we fell for it because here in Colorado, there are plenty of “legal” marijuana lovers. Case in point, the town of Breckenridge just legalized the possession of Mary Jane & there’s a CONVENTION in downtown Denver this week completely devoted to the green stuff so sadly we didn’t see the headline being too far off. As I was doing the dishes, I told Steven “What is this world coming to?” when he read the article further and let me know it was a joke:

Aspen opens first medical cocaine dispensary in Caribou Alley

Citing ample local demand for the anesthetic medicinal use of cocaine and the success of Aspen’s pot shops, Aspen City Council has approved the nation’s first medical cocaine dispensary.

Local provider Cutter McSkimpybag said he expects to open up this weekend in the bathroom stall of the Caribou Club on Hopkins Avenue, with an eye toward opening a second dispensary in the bathroom at Eric’s Bar.

“We want this medical service to be convenient for our patients,” McSkimpybag explained, “so we’re going to the areas where we believe they most often need their medicine.”

Depending on the success of the new coke business, McSkimpybag said he may try to expand with a Medical Magic Mushrooms shop in Carbondale and a Medical Meth shop in Glenwood Springs (featuring a drive-thru option).

Frequently ill ski tuner Darkstar Fatblunt said he is thrilled local pharmacies are expanding their services and his “mind, man.”

Councilman Torre concurred.

“Cocaine obviously has tremendous medical benefits, such as strengthening the vocal chords and cutting my bacon intake” the one-named councilman said. “I might need their services to make it through this boring-ass City Council meeting.”}
