Best of Denver: Cheesesteak

August 12th, 2009 by Elizabeth · 3 Comments

Husband came across a magazine tooting the Top of the Town, 205 reasons to love Denver. Of course, we had to buy it. The dining section really struck a chord with us and seeing as one of the biggest pieces of advice people are giving us before the baby comes is to go out to eat more often, we’ve decided to try tackling the list.

We’ve been strategic about the entire thing. We starred the restaurants and vendors that sound best (I really don’t think two Mormons, one with child, need to check out the best cocktail or gay bar) and slowly but surely hope to visit them on our date outings. We would like to share with you what we find. So, be on the look out for any blog post that says “Best of Denver: blah blah blah.” Who knows, if some of these places are really good we might just take you…if you come for a visit.

Pat’s Downtown Bar and Grill voted best cheesesteak Editors’ and Readers’ Choice.

Somewhere between the fresh, soft, yet a little chewy, homemade  baguette and the perfectly gooey filling, we were transported to Philly. The Pat’s location we visited was as bare boned as you get aesthetically, but the cheesesteaks had us oooing and ahhing…out loud I might add. Skip the fries. They weren’t anything special. We had to make our own fry sauce to help save them.

We will definitely revisit this place. Next time, I’m getting my cheesesteak with the hot pepper relish, lettuce and tomatoes (who knew the latter two would go well on this sammi).
