Readers,
Saturdays are cherished between Wife and I. There was a time in our marriage where Saturdays meant that I had to get onto a plane, fly to some random location and stay up till the wee hours of the morning staring blankly at computer screens. Thrilling, I know. But now with this new job I’ve regained these special days and Wife and I make the most of them.
Take yesterday for example. We spent it: getting the car fixed, making breakfast, picking up the house, talking with the apartment office, laying out by the pool, falling asleep by the pool, grilling hamburgers for lunch, eating lunch, fallingl asleep on the couch after lunch, prepping dinner, and playing tennis with friends.
But the best activity yesterday was after tennis. Wife and I packed a picnic basket full of goodies, threw our lawn chairs into the trunk and headed off to the park. There we took in a free concert put on by the Durham Symphony. It was a classic Pops concert. They played the Bond theme, Superman, a Frank Sinatra Melody and even some Tchaikovsky. The weather was perfect, the ambiance was serene and really the only detterent of the whole night was the lady behind us who insisted on talking throughout the entire performance. This, however, was made only more comical because she had a swine flu mask(TM) on. I considered turning around and coughing and oinking loudly to see if she would cry wee wee wee all the way home but I was too content.
