Hola readers! I have successfully returned from my field trip to Bahston. Ironically, it’s not spelled that way. Many people were confused when I would ask where “Bahston” was. Seeing their confusion, I would elongate the “ah” drawling out “Baaaaaaaaaaaaahston”. No luck. But that’s not the reason for this post. No, no. Readers, this post is much more exciting. This past Monday when I returned, I was given the list. THE list. The list of our next two years.
You see, readers, Wife and I are here in North Carolina for this year, doing this Cisco program. After the year we are moved to somewhere across the nation to work for Cisco and this Monday we got the list of possible locations for us to move to. We get the opportunity to narrow it down to our top 15 and then the managers convene to select 5 places for us. We get 5 interviews and then we rank our choices. It is a little intense.
So, readers this post is interactive. Wife and I have already taken the list which had places across the country and have narrowed it down to what we think are our top 15 places. We did this by following some guidelines.
1) No California. Way. Too. Expensive. No offense to my Cali readers out there!
2) No New England. Same thing. And they don’t know where “Baaaaaahston” is.
3) No Dirty South. Humidity sucks out my will to live.
4) No Arizona. I prefer not baking to death in my own skin.
Now, no pressure readers, but I have to have these choices in by FRIDAY! So take a gander at the choices on the side of the blog and let us know what you think. Also feel free to comment of a place you think would be really ideal for Wife and I.
GO FOR IT!

Some thoughts.
I lived in Dallas for awhile a few years back and LOVED it. It can get hot and humid, but not too hot and too humid. Seriously, you don’t get why people make such a big deal about Texas until you live there. Then it makes total sense. It’s awesome.
I’ve always wanted to try Portland or Seattle. I’ve only ever heard good things about the northwest.
My parents favorite city in the nation (they’ve traveled quite a bit), aside from where they currently live of course, is Chicago. I think that would be a fun new experience.
My three thoughts. Take them or leave them.

You have got to be kidding me!!! There is no other choice then Oklahoma City!!! Hey…it’s only for 2 years…that’s what we said when we moved from SLC 28 years ago…”It’ll be a good experience for a year or two”…and STILL here and LOVING every minute of it…
I need to confess that I tried to vote numerous times and accidentally voted for Dallas…trying to cover my tracks…Come on hizzies, Okies, “The Girls”, and spouses of “The Girls”…vote…we All can heavily weight this poll.

I say go for some place you don’t *think* you will want to end up in life, just so you can say “I lived there,” or “I’m so glad I know where I don’t want to live” or something like that.
The only other place I’ve ever lived is Oregon. It rains a lot, but is very temperate. It’s gorgeously green, and if you ever want to go to the coast I know of this awesome motel
Plus, no sales tax and you never have to pump your own gas.

we love AUSTIN!! we would have never chosen to live in texas, but we love it here. it is not nearly as hot and humid as dallas or houston. it’s got a fun downtown, lots of church members, it never snows, you can get a big house for cheap…
i say wherever you move, try to be 1) close to a major airport and 2) close to a temple. if you’re far away from those two things, it makes life difficult. like reed’s parents live in cedar city and it’s pretty and all, but… they have to drive to salt lake to get to the airport (or vegas — both of which are 3 hrs away) — such a pain!
anyway, wherever you live, it’s what you make of it. you can find good friends and fun things to do anywhere. that’s my two cents

So, obviously I vote for Salt Lake. I’m imagining the dinner parties as I type. But, a close second would be Richardson, Texas. That is where my brother and his wife are moving to, which means I would be able to visit ya’ll a lot! Richardson is surprisingly awesome.

I vote for Chicago…we may be there in a year so we can be married friends in a cool city together. Oh the fun we would have!

I think something is wrong with the voting thing. I have voted 4 times for OKC and it is not counting my votes! If I am going to take the time to DECIDE what is best for the two of you…I want my vote to count! My 2nd choice is Dallas bc then I would see you more than I do now and my third is Bellevue, WA bc that is really close to Donnie’s parents so I could see you when we go there! Ok, so check out the voting thing and let me know!!!

I vote for Chicago. I visited there once, my friend’s family live just outside of Chicago in Naperville. There is so much to DO there. Oprah lives there
It’s a very cool place. Yummy food too, pizza anyone?

OKC! Better to be a BIG fish in a small pond…and to be surrounded by those who ADORE you!

I voted for 3 cities. Salt Lake City for obvious reasons. Denver because it’s a beautiful city with seasons similar to SLC, and I love the seasons. And Bellvue Washington. I don’t know anything about Bellvue, but I LOVE Seattle, and would move there in a heart beat. Maybe we can both move there and be next door neighbors!

Oh man, this list definitely contains some excellent choices!!! Now, as much as I would love for you two to continue your adventure abroad, I would love even more for you to live closer so that we can be hang-out-friends forever! On the other hand, how great would it be for Elizabeth to be back in her stomping grounds, creating more “famous” people to come out of Oklahoma. Lastly, Denver is just close enough to visit and Elizabeth already has a little experience. Tough call..Utah it is!!!

I definitely voted Dallas because, come one, AMAZING! but then I re-looked at the list and realized that Richardson is like twenty minutes closer to McKinney than Dallas. Either way, I’d be thrilled. You’d be pretty close to the Hagee clan, and that means, when I’m home, we can play!

Haha…so the first thing I thought when I read about your vote….Your mom is going to vote a million times and it will be for OKC! haha and after reading her post…I was right! She is going to sway the vote. You guys would be an awesome couple to have here in OKC! We need fun young couples and you guys are one of those!
