This morning we packed a picnic and made the 3 hour trek to “the mountains” as it’s deemed by the locals.
The quaint town of Blowing Rock is located in northwestern North Carolina, nestled between Tennessee and Virginia. The town is named after an Indian legend of lovers and the rock itself gives some incredible panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The historic downtown boasts cobble-stoned streets and shops of all kinds.

After meandering around Blowing Rock, we decided to take a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, which extends from Virginia to Tennessee. The Parkway’s nickname is America’s Favorite Drive for its slow-pace (35 mph) and numerous overlooks. Our timing couldn’t be better with the changing colors of the leaves.

We had so much fun seeing the beautiful country and colors while spending quality (laughing and singing) time with one another.
You can see even more pictures of our day trip here.
