NC State Fair

October 18th, 2008 by Steven · 6 Comments

This was Steven’s FIRST fair experience so we knew we had to do it right. What does “doing it right” mean at a Southern State Fair? Well, fried food of course!

The preparation: Fast for three days, get tape worms and take laxatives

The game day strategy: Get one of everything so we could try more

The result: A very happy 27 yr. old boy and a vow to not eat anything fried for the rest of our lives

We had so much fun looking at the livestock, local arts and most of all PEOPLE WATCHING. We didn’t ride any rides because I can’t bring myself to go on something that will get packed up and travel on the road in a week. My feelings were reconfirmed when I watched a press conference on the evening news where the safety commissioner said “At the NC State Fair we require all of our rides to be in full working condition. Most states allow rides to run when they have one or two things wrong. But rest assured, we require for every part to work.”

You know you’re at the North Carolina State Fair when…

1) You see this sign:

2) There’s an entire display on Tobacco plants and products

What everyone will be receiving for Christmas this year:

Class, guess how many seeds are in this pumpkin:

No Butts about it:

Happy Thanksgiving!

1. Extra Long Corn Dog

2. Fried Mac ‘n Cheese (Believe it or not, but this was our fav)

3. Chili-Cheese Fries (the fries were fresh cut)

4. Fried Snickers

Notice the sign in the background. Some of the other things we saw but couldn’t bring ourselves to try: deep-fried cheese burger, fried pecan pie, fried cheese cake, fried pickles, apple chips, sausages of every type and turkey legs galore!

The dose for Lipitor is 40 mg nightly. Remember heart disease is in your family. However the cheeseburger sounded the best. The tobacco can be used for sick animals.

You are living the dream my friend, living the dream.

    How was the Snickers?

Watching IJATKOTCS while typing this. All I can say is, I’m going to have a fridge around me at all times. Those things are magical.

Oh my heavens - FAIR FOOD! What I wouldn’t give to go to the Texas State Fair and get my hands on one of those corn doggies. I’m so jealous!
