Girls Trip & Visit to Dallas

August 15th, 2008 by Elizabeth · 4 Comments

Each summer, my best gal pals from high school and I have a little Girls Trip weekend in Dallas. We had loads of fun being together, laughing together, shopping together, chatting together, eating together and reminicising together.

I flew in Saturday afternoon and was greeted by a blast of heat and a car full of three cuties. We stopped for a little treat: fresas con creme. De-lish. Then headed back to Hannah’s adorable pad for some primping before the John Mayer concert, which also featured Colbie Caillet but let’s be honest, John is the one that matters.

We stopped for some din din at a little Mexi joint. The service was horrible but the food gave me my mexi fix. Warning to Future Waiters: If you see four, loud, laughing girls please at least be cordial to them, the reprimand will not be fun. Continuing. We hopped in the car to pop over to the concert and true to Dallas form, we ran into a minor (Note: 1.5 HOUR) traffic jam, which allowed us and several other concert goers to be fashionably late (Note: 2 HOURS late arriving just minutes before John came on…sorry opening acts). Our seats were far from our 3rd row seats two years ago and our 11th row seats four years ago, alas the view was delightful.

We crashed at Hannah’s pad.

“There’s a towel you could use.”

Hannah and I took a 3 mi. power walk along the Katy Trail the next morning. And then the shopping began. Urban, Anthro and Forev 21 were extremely good to us.

“I walked up to this house about 7 or 8 and I yelled to the cabby…”

Girls Trip wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Collin & Jane’s home. Hannah’s dad and step-mom are always so gracious and wine & dine us. We love them.

Sunday night, I parted with the Hizzies to spend a few days with Benj, Gretch, Yadon & Brooks. As we were taking my luggage upstairs, this person came around the corner:

Hillary drove down from OKC to spend the night with me. It was so good to see her and hear about how she is kicking butte at Duncan Brothers Hair School. If you need a fierce cut at a superb price look her up.

My mom flew in the next day for a visit. She even brought me Teds in little containers. I know. She is the best.

I loved being able to catch up with my Momma, Gretch & Benjer and playing with the boys was a major plus. We frequented the pool and played Batman until Sissy dropped to the floor. Brookers is 1.5 and the best little hide-and-seeker you will EVER find. It’s hilarious, you’ll find him just dead silent and so statuesque in a closet or under a bed and he’s been there for MINUTES!

Yadon reaching for rocks so he could dive for them. Amazing what little boys will do.

Brooks really thinks he can swim and REFUSES to wear floaties.

You really have to watch him because he’ll just walk of the ledge or push you away to swim. Amazing how much little brothers want to be just like their big brothers.

For the sake of sounding like the overly saturated Aunt I am and tell about all of the cute things the boys did and said, just know that I have some of the cutest, smartest nephews alive. Thanks for a fab time Hannah, Mandy, Lee, Collin, Jane, Hills, Momma, Benjer, Gretch, Yadon, Brookers (& Steven)!
