The something old-referring in no way to Steven’s new, ripe age of 27-happened on July 18th and is sadly just making its way onto our blog, but it was Steven’s birthday! I was going to wake up early and make Steven a sweet, homemade treat for breakfast in bed but that changed when we got a call to pick-up our new car. So, homemade cinnamon rolls or new car…it’s a toss up, I know, but he got a NEW CAR for his birthday. TADAAA!!!!
Ok, I’m not that cheap to use the misfortunate events of Teshaun as a cop out for Sameshaun (official name still to be determined) being the birthday present. But it really was perfect timing. Aforementioned, Steven’s grand birthday present from myself with contributions from Joe & Janet and Kent & Laurie is a whirlwind drip to Disney World, but you didn’t really think I wouldn’t do anything for his actual birthday did you???
After picking up the car, we were the FIRST-as in #1 and #2, uno y dos- in line to see the premier of Batman: Dark Knight in IMAX. Side note: it was amazing and IMAX, with the ground shaking from the speakers, made it even that much better. Afterwards, we went to a new little place for din din called “Mez, a contemporary Mexican restaurant,” and dined on its deliciousness. We finished off the celebration with Steven’s favorite Tres Leches cake and a homemade card listing the 27 reasons why I was glad Steven was born that day-one of them being that he was old enough so we could actually rent a car. So, sorry for the delay, but here’s to Steven making the ripe age of 27!

The something new is that today is Steven’s FIRST DAY OF WORK at Cisco! I’m so excited for him and know he is just going to soak up every minute of this wonderful opportunity. I’ve kept asking him if he’s nervous but he just replies with this excited little boy grin, “No, I’m too excited to be nervous.” Our little 3 week-actually probably more like 4 week-rendezvous had to come to an end, but in light of all of the events it was exactly what we needed. My advice to Steven before he left this morning: play nice with the other kids. In all seriousness, I’m so blessed to have such a sweet, caring and talented husband like Steven. I’m so proud of him and thankful for everything he does to provide for our little family…even if it means creating time for me to finish Stats 221. So, here’s to Steven for being my sugar daddy!
