La casa. Hizouse. Abode. Crib. Hacienda. No matter what language or slang form of ebonics you prefer to use, the home and owning of a home is a central part of every American’s dream life.
Working for the Utah Valley Home Builders Association (UVHBA), I play a small role in helping the average (more like above average in the pocket book) American achieve this aspect of their American Dream. UVHBA hosts the Utah Valley Parade of Homes each year. As a perk, I received a few tickets so I could be accompanied to drool and lust over beautiful homes. I invited my mother-in-law Janet and sister-in-law Tammy (Nicole couldn’t make it) to accompany me in my quest in flirting with Commandments II & X.
We had a lovely day of house hopping and snapping shots; it seemed like every corner we turned, our eyes grew bigger…sometimes not in a positive way. However, the ultimate highlight was finding the tangible version of Steven’s and my dream home.
Ladies and Gents, meet “The Hampton”

The sunken tub with tiled back splash and wrap around spa shower is behind me. Oh, and the fireplace that looks into the bedroom and bathroom.

The floor was literally vibrating.

Granted, the mere 13,000 sq. ft., three full size kitchens, exercise room and basketball court may be a little much. We’re convinced that someday we can take the best aspects of this New England inspired home to create an appropriate, and much smaller, abode to aid in our American Dream.

Haha…when I saw the picture of the kitchen, I immediately thought, “Yep, that reminds me of Elizabeth!” LOVE it! And LOVE the Parade of Homes!

I had a dream the other night that the 10 all lived on the same street. A little Utopia if you will. If that isn’t meant to be, I think a house like that will due for reunion get togethers.
