Readers! Welcome to the post. Not just the post. THE post. The post of posts. Probably the very last post you’ll ever read on our blog cause you’ll be so disappointed that THE post didn’t live up to the hype that you’ll leave our blog outside off the on ramp rattling a can begging for quarters or maybe a burger from Chili’s. Yes readers it’s that time so let’s do this! Hoo rah!
First lets squash some speculations. No, not pregnant. No, not adopting. No, not trying to finally realize my childhood dream of being the first white guy on the Harlem Globetrotters. (Not yet anyway) No, haven’t struck oil in our second bedroom. No, not changing my name to Max Power. (If even it does rock your ears just saying it) and no, not selling all our possessions, packing what we can into Teyshaun, peeling out with a cloud of dust, traveling the country before finally ending up in Branson, Missouri trying to make it as a cocktail waitress while Wife takes a stab at ventriloquism. But good guess, Mom.
Alright here’s the deal. The bombshell that we have to drop is Wife and I are……………………………………………..
leaving.
Yup. We’re blowing this popsicle stand. We’re getting the heck out of Dodge. We’re…. well we’re moving I don’t really know any other cool ways of saying it. Wife and I are leaving the great state of Utah which has been home to me for the better part of too many years to count. We are leaving the great Rocky Mountains, the wonderful snow, the amazing summers, and everything in between.
Now readers, I know that you are asking yourself what could possibly pull the Cramers away from this wonderful place and that dear readers is the best news of all!
I gots a job!
A real one honest-to-goodness-honey-I’m-home-and-I’ve-brought-the-bacon job. Now many of you already know this so take a second and stop reading so you can give yourself a pat on the back! But there are still a few who were (and hopefully still are) blissfully unaware (coughcough peopleatmyjob cough cough) Now I’m not saying that my current job is not a good one because it is. However, when placed in comparison with upcoming job, current job might as well pack it in and start shining shoes or something. And we obviously know how Wife feels about my constant travels as evidenced here.
(On a related side note, I was going to mention the name of the company that I work for, but being the nerd that I am, I entertained the possibility that they might have some sort of Google Alerts set up for any time their name is mentioned. And no one at my job knows that I am leaving them soon. Which could cause some consternation. So then I considered saying the name but then just using Pig Latin but I still think Google might get it. So I just left it alone.)
Needless to say we are so incredibly excited for this new opportunity. A few details. The job that I have been offered is with a company callled Cisco. Maybe you’ve heard of it? Now before we go any further, it’s Cisco with a C as in the networking company that provides sweet technology like that videoconferencing thinger on 24. Not SYSCO with a SYS, the food packing and transportation company. (Which still would be a sweet job.) So in summary:

These guys Not these guys
My official title is going to be an Associate Systems Engineer. I know, three word title. Awesomeness. I wonder if I can get them to change it to Associate to the Systems Engineer. THAT would look sweet on a business card. Basically for the next 12 months I will be learning the Cisco ways. Back to school in essence. They will teach me all their knowledge and grant me four certifications (My street cred with the nerds will go through the roof) After the twelve months they’ll relocate us and I will be basically a knowledge source for Fortune 500 companies to consult. I’ll help design their networks and say cool things like, “Yeah I’m going to need to open a socket for that so I can punch it through the firewall.” It really is an incredible opportunity.
And where is this incredible opportunity taking place? The lovely state of North Carolina!!! No not the one home to the wonderfully talented Miss USA contestant who is very concerned about maps and “the Iraq” and “such as.” That would be our sister state to the south. No North Carolina is home of numerous tobacco companies, Duke University where my dad went to medical school and the very place, which my dad tells me on several occasions, where yours truly, Mr. Steven Ashby Cramer Esq. was conceived. Yes the state of North Carolina holds a dear place in our hearts and we are so excited to make it our home for the next year. Through the power of the internets we have already locked in an apartment and planned our very first “Dirty South Trip.” about which details will be coming shortly from my lovely wife.
Well there you have it. Our secret is out. We hope that it is shocking enough to slightly live up the hype that has been built. And if not oh well, we’re moving anyhoo. Words cannot adequately describe how truly blessed we feel to have this opportunity and let me be the first to extend a very warm invitation to come visit us if you are ever out our way. We would absolutely love to have you.

We’re so excited for you guys! LOVE that we’re getting some more east coast representatives for a little while, too. When are you moving?

Whoopidy-doo! I mean that in all seriousness. That’s awesome. Moving is so exciting, especially somewhere so new! But, from what I understand, it’s still a year off? Glad you’ll be around for a little while longer. What is Utah going to be like with two less Cramers running around? Keep us updated on the preparations!

I totally guess it; but it doesn’t make me happy that I guessed it. We are super excited for you guys–sounds like a great opportunity….though we will miss you both EXTREMELY. Just knowing that Utah will have two less cramers is slightely unbearable. Maybe I”ll have to schedule extra appointments for Della with your dad to make up for the dearth I’ll feel. Yeah, anyway, when do you head out?
