Joyous news, readers! Wife and I, after weeks of research, have brought a new one into our family! We are so excited to have him here and be able to play with him all the time. We also can’t wait to stuff him tightly into a bag and sling him across our backs so that we can pull him out in remote locations, use him and maybe swap an appendage or two! Meet the newest member to our clan!

Yes readers, we have boldy stepped into the world of the DSLR. (That’s Digital Single Lens Reflex for the uninformed) For awhile now we have been wanted a sweet cool camera that we can use to take amazing pictures with. We begun our research about a month ago and we decided that the Nikon D40 would be a great camera for us. Mix that with a scoop of sweet delicious state tax return and you’ve got a recipe for awesomeness. Plus it doesn’t hurt that we found the camera PLUS another lens PLUS a bag PLUS instructional DVDs PLUS free shipping PLUS no sales tax for 50 bucks more than the original price! Whilst in Montana I would watch FedEx.com religiously as our precious cargo traversed from Kansas to our home. And now we welcome it with open arms!!

BUT readers know this, Wife and I do not intend to just use the auto function on this and turn it into a fancy point and shoot, oh no. We are committed to really learning how to use our baby to its fullest. We are going to spend Family Home Evenings for the next 5 weeks reading the manual and discussing it as a couple. Our date nights will be spent in front of the warm glow of the television watching our instructional DVDs. Yes readers we are going to be the photo snobs you’ve always wished you could be!
