“I’ve Got the Blues”

March 7th, 2008 by Elizabeth · No Comments

Just like the little kid in the Kraft Macaroni “I’ve Got the Blues” advertising campaign, I’ve got a double whammy of the blues.

I’ve caught a retched cold which inhibits the taken-for-granted ease of breathing and speaking. I’m sure I scare the heck out of people when I answer the phone, “Uta Alley Ome Builder Assoation thisisElizabeth” (with the last phrase slurred together). You know how sometimes when you haven’t been sick in a while, you wish you were sick so you could stay home from work, lounge, take a bath and nap and eat soup? OK, maybe no one else does, but there are times I catch myself thinking that would be a nice break from the day-to-day schedule…that is until I actually get sick. The good news is that I really think I’m on the up-and-up; I mean, I can breath out of one nostril!

My second dose of the blues comes from the damn state of Montana. Yes, Montana, YOU! You took my husband away for an ENTIRE WEEK! Don’t get me wrong, I’m an independent person and enjoy getting things done and in fact, this week is going to give me a chance to catch up with many of my girlfriends, BUT it’s always a bummer when Steven has to go away. I know he wasn’t completely thrilled about being kidnapped by Montana for 168 hours either, but I so appreciate him providing for our family…what a man! I can’t wait to have another Girls’ Reunion and go to Color Me Mine with Mar, but when my better half is missing my senses are just kinda dulled.

So, here’s to being on the upside of feeling better and only 152 hours left…take that, kid with annoying voice chomping away on highly processed, imitation cheese food product!
