Omelet Night, Well Actually Morning

November 15th, 2007 by Elizabeth · 5 Comments

The hospital in Provo hosts an omelet night about once a month sometimes twice a month. I’ve always wanted to go and experience the “true” zoobie (BYU) event. I’m not gonna lie, hospitals REALLY freak me out. I don’t know if it’s because of the experience I had with Hillary when we were 5 visiting her grandma and the woman next door was calling out names of people and saying she saw Mary (ya, pretty freaky for some little 5-year-olds sitting in the hallway by themselves).

I’m a curious person, so I always seem to find myself looking into the rooms, seeing what’s going on…in a hospital, this is NOT a good idea. For example, I was visiting my sister-in-law, Mary, when she was in the ICU (where the “doors” are GLASS). I was about 13 and as I was walking to visit her and my wandering eyes got me in trouble (although I don’t really think it’s my fault since the doors and walls were freakin GLASS!) because I saw a male patient pleasuring himself. Once again, not the best experience.

Needless to say, I decided to venture out last month and attend omelet night, to my disbelief it was DELICIOUS! They had every ingredient under the sun: cashews, strawberries, artichokes, water chestnuts, etc. And the omelets were made to order. Evidently they also offer an omelet morning, which we never really knew being college students who thrived on the late night hours. Because I am going to be in OKLAHOMA next week when the omelet night is, we decided to go to the omelet morning. Yesterday morning, we met our friends Moni (Monica), Hood (Robyn) and Hood’s roommate Amy, for the partaking of omelets. It was a great way to start off our Wednesday morning and it even tied me over for lunch!

As you can imagine, we grew up around hospitals, so I’ve had some similar experiences. Once as a teenager I went over to the Women’s Center to try to find my dad, I ended up walking into a room as a woman was giving birth! A tiny bit traumatic at the time.
