A couple of weekends ago, I had the opportunity to go to Washington D.C. for the first time. Steven had a business trip out there and Scott and Nicole are living there for a semester, so we decided what the heck, I might as well go (no kids, right?).
Getting out there and home was basically traveling to Hell and back, literally. Reader’s Digest: I experienced a broken plane, switching carriers, traveling a triangle of the continental US, losing baggage, being late for my flight, letting me know my seat was prematurely given away to a standby, waking at 4:30 a.m. to catch another plane to be notified 15 min. before boarding that I was going to have to pay another $100, "cat" fighting with Shaniqua (that might as well have been her name) and being accused (Shaniqua-AKA NWA worker-literally getting "up in my grill") of missing a previous flight, but that’s all.
Needless to say, my time actually IN D.C. was amazing; I saw all the monuments/memorials, a couple Smithsonians, Holocaust museum, Capitol, White House, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, Union Station, etc. all in 1.5 days! Let’s just say I’m a compulsive planner! It was so neat to see so many things I have learned about in school and it was really fun to get to see Scott and Nicole in their city life.
Here are some of the picture highlights from the trip…the rest are in a sideshow in our Photo Album:
OK, so anyone who knows me just knows that I am an ANIMAL LOVER…yeah right!!! So, I’m walking down the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and NO JOKE this lady was POSING her dog and taking pictures of it with the memorial in the background…literally POSING (if you look closely you can see her adjusting him and her camera in her left hand)!!! As I walked by, I hurried and took a picture…and then I started laughing out loud by myself.

Hope Diamond…is that it?
